Frequently asked questions
What does a valid llms.txt need?
An H1 title with the site's name on the first line, a short summary in a > blockquote, and one or more ## sections listing Markdown links in the form - [Page name](https://…): short note.
Why does the validator say my llms.txt is an HTML page?
The server returned a web page instead of the file, which usually means the file doesn't exist and your site shows its normal page or a 404 page for every address. Upload llms.txt to the site's root.
Where must the llms.txt file be placed?
At the root of the domain, so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt, served as plain text or Markdown. Each subdomain that needs one has its own file.
