Frequently asked questions
Where does this backlink data come from?
From the Join Postly Index, the link graph our crawler JoinPostlyBot builds, plus referring domains from the Common Crawl web graph we import. It isn't Google's link data, and no tool outside Google has every link.
Why are some backlinks missing?
No crawler sees the whole web. New links appear after JoinPostlyBot reads the linking page, so very new or rarely linked sites can show few links. The full Postly Rank report also asks our crawler to read your site.
How many backlinks does the free checker show?
The top 10 referring domains and the top 10 backlinks, with totals for everything we know. Postly Rank shows the complete lists, with filters and CSV export on paid plans.
What's the difference between backlinks and referring domains?
Backlinks are individual links; referring domains are the different websites they come from. Ten links from one site count as one referring domain, which is why that number usually matters more.
