Frequently asked questions
How is CPM calculated?
CPM = ad spend ÷ impressions × 1,000. If you spend 50 and get 25,000 impressions, the CPM is 2: you paid 2 for every thousand times the ad was shown.
What does a high CPM mean?
You're paying more to reach people, often because the audience is narrow, many advertisers want it, or it's a busy season like the run-up to holidays. A high CPM is fine if the ads still convert.
What is the difference between CPM and eCPM?
CPM is what an advertiser pays per thousand impressions. eCPM usually means what a publisher earns per thousand impressions across all ad types; the maths is the same, the side is different.
