404 checker: find broken URLs
Paste up to 20 URLs to find the ones that return 404 Not Found, 410 Gone or server errors. You get a broken-link summary, a filter to show only the problems and each URL's redirect path, so you know which pages to fix or redirect.
How to use the Bulk URL Status Checker
- 1Paste your URLs, one per line (up to 20 at a time).
- 2Press Check status codes: four URLs are checked at a time.
- 3Read each row: status, redirect hops and the final address.
- 4Copy the results as CSV to fix broken links or plan redirects.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do with a 404 page?
If the page moved or has a close replacement, add a 301 redirect to it. If it's gone for good and nothing links to it, let it return 404 or 410. Fix internal links that point to it either way.
Do 404 errors hurt SEO?
A few 404s for pages that genuinely no longer exist are normal and don't harm the rest of the site. The cost is lost value from links and visitors that land on them, so redirect the ones that still get traffic or links.
What's the difference between a 404 and a soft 404?
A 404 is the server saying "not found". A soft 404 is a page that says "not found" but answers 200 OK, which confuses search engines. This checker reports the real status code, so a soft 404 shows as 200.
