DNS lookup: check every record
Look up the DNS records of any domain or host name: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA, with TTLs. Answers come live from Cloudflare's public resolver over DNS-over-HTTPS, and a propagation view compares Cloudflare and Google side by side.
How to use the DNS Lookup
- 1Enter a domain such as example.com, or a host name like www.example.com or _dmarc.example.com.
- 2Read each record type with its values and TTL, the time resolvers may cache it.
- 3Switch to Propagation to see whether Cloudflare and Google already return the same values after a change.
- 4Copy the records as zone-file lines, or share the result link.
Frequently asked questions
What does each DNS record type do?
A and AAAA point a name to IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, CNAME points it to another name, MX lists mail servers, NS lists the domain's nameservers, TXT holds text such as SPF and verification codes, SOA describes the zone and CAA says which certificate authorities may issue SSL certificates.
Which DNS server does this lookup use?
Cloudflare's public resolver (1.1.1.1) through DNS-over-HTTPS, which follows the domain's real nameservers. Results are cached for up to 10 minutes on our side, so a very recent change may need a moment.
What is TTL in DNS?
Time to live: how many seconds resolvers may keep a record before asking again. Lower the TTL a day before a planned change so the new value spreads faster.
