Frequently asked questions
Should I use Article or BlogPosting schema?
Both work for Google's article features. BlogPosting is a more specific type of Article for blog posts; NewsArticle suits news sites. Pick the one that describes the page best.
Why add dateModified to article schema?
It tells search engines and AI systems when the content was last meaningfully updated. Only change it when you edit the article, and show the same date on the page.
Does the author in article schema need a profile page?
It isn't required, but linking the author's name to an author page (the url property) is a strong trust signal. Use a real person's name rather than a company for bylined articles.
