Broken link checker
Enter a page and the checker tests up to 100 of its links, internal ones first. You see which links are broken (404, 410, server errors, no answer), which redirect, and which sites block automated checks, with each link's anchor text so you can find it fast.
How to use the Broken Link Checker
- 1Enter the page to check, such as a blog post or your homepage.
- 2Wait while up to 100 links are tested, which takes up to half a minute.
- 3Filter for broken links, find each one by its anchor text, and update or remove it.
- 4Copy the CSV to share the list, and run a full Site Audit to check every page.
Frequently asked questions
Do broken links hurt SEO?
A few broken links won't sink a site, but they waste link value, frustrate visitors and can signal a neglected page. Broken internal links also stop search engines reaching the pages behind them.
Why are some links marked "couldn't verify"?
Those sites answered 401, 403 or 429, or LinkedIn's 999: they block automated checks. The link may work fine in a browser, so open it yourself before removing it.
How do I fix a broken link?
Update it to the page's new address, link to a similar live page, or remove the link. If the broken link points to your own site, also add a 301 redirect from the old URL.
