Random passphrase generator
Make a passphrase of random, easy-to-type English words, such as "maple-orbit-velvet-canyon-5". Choose the number of words, the separator, capitals and a number. Each word is picked with secure randomness from over 1,000 common words, and the entropy is shown honestly.

Frequently asked questions
Is a passphrase safer than a password?
A passphrase of 5 or more random words is as strong as a long random password and much easier to type and remember. The words must be picked at random, not chosen by you.
How many words should a passphrase have?
Five words give about 50 bits of strength with this word list, and six about 60. Use six or more for a password manager's master password.
Can I use a famous quote or song line as a passphrase?
No. Attackers try well-known phrases, quotes and lyrics first. Random words from a generator are far harder to guess.
