Will my photos lose quality in a collage?
Each photo is scaled into its cell, so very small photos can look soft when a cell is large. Use photos at least as big as the cell and keep zoom low for the sharpest result.

Yes. Set the gap and the outer padding, round the corners and pick a background colour or gradient, which shows in the gaps.
