How to use the Screen Recorder

  1. 1Choose what to include: microphone, webcam bubble (corner and size) and the file format.
  2. 2Press Start and pick the screen, window or tab to share. A 3-second countdown gives you time to get ready.
  3. 3Pause and resume as you go; the timer shows how much time is left on your plan.
  4. 4Stop, check the preview and download the video. Close the tab and it's gone unless you saved it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the screen recording uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser records straight to your device's memory and the download is created locally. Join Postly never sees your screen, your camera or your microphone.

Can I record my screen on an iPhone?

Not in a browser: iPhone and iPad browsers don't allow websites to capture the screen. Use the built-in Screen Recording button in Control Centre instead, then edit or schedule the video.

Why does my recording have no sound from the computer?

Browsers only share system or tab audio when you tick “Share audio” in the sharing window, and some systems only allow it for tabs. Your microphone is recorded separately when it's switched on.

How long can a recording be?

Free recordings can be up to 5 minutes and Pro recordings up to 60 minutes. The limit is shown before you start, with a warning 30 seconds before the end, and the video is saved automatically.
