Video to GIF converter
Turn a short clip into a GIF without uploading it. Trim the start and end on the timeline, choose frames per second, width, crop and speed, and watch the size estimate before you convert. Encoding runs in the background, with progress and cancel.
How to use the Video to GIF
- 1Choose a video from your device. MP4, WebM and MOV work where your browser can play them.
- 2Drag the start and end handles on the timeline to pick the part you want (up to 10 seconds free, 20 with Pro).
- 3Set the frames per second, width, shape and speed, and check the estimated file size.
- 4Convert, preview the GIF and download it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a GIF smaller?
Lower the width first (480 px is plenty for most chats), then the frames per second (10–12 looks smooth) and the length. Fewer colours and turning off dithering also save space.
Is my video uploaded to convert it?
No. Frames are read from the video by your browser and encoded into a GIF by an in-browser encoder in a background worker. The file never leaves your device.
Why can't my GIF be longer than 20 seconds?
GIFs store every frame as a full picture, so long GIFs get huge and slow to load. Free GIFs can be up to 10 seconds and Pro GIFs up to 20; for longer clips, post a video instead.
