Add a watermark to a PDF
Stamp text such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your company name across every page of a PDF. Choose the size, colour, opacity and angle, see a rough preview, and download the watermarked copy. The PDF is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to use the Watermark PDF
- 1Drop the PDF you want to watermark.
- 2Type the watermark text, such as CONFIDENTIAL or your company name.
- 3Set the size, colour, opacity and angle; the small preview shows roughly how it will look.
- 4Tap Add watermark to download the watermarked PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can a PDF watermark be removed?
By someone with a PDF editor, yes: a watermark marks a document as a draft or as yours, it doesn't lock it. For real protection, share the PDF with a password or restricted permissions in a full PDF app.
What opacity works best for a watermark?
Around 15–25% keeps the text underneath easy to read while the watermark stays clearly visible. Use more for a bold DRAFT stamp, less for a subtle company name.
Can I use an image or logo as the watermark?
Not yet: this tool adds text watermarks. Type your company name instead, or use our Images to PDF tool for documents made of pictures.
Which characters can a watermark use?
Latin letters (including accents such as é and ü), numbers and common symbols, because the watermark uses a font every PDF reader has built in. Other scripts show an error rather than a broken stamp.
