Extract text from a PDF
Copy the words out of a PDF without retyping them. Drop the file, pick the pages and get each page's text ready to copy, or save it all as a plain .txt file. It all runs in your browser, so contracts and reports stay on your device.

Frequently asked questions
How do I copy text from a PDF that won't let me select it?
Drop it here: the text is read from the file itself, so it works even when your viewer makes selecting awkward. If the PDF is password-protected against opening, remove the password first.
How can I tell if a PDF page is scanned?
If a page gives almost no text here, or you can't select words in your PDF viewer, it's an image of the page. The tool marks those pages as "looks scanned" so you know they need OCR.
Can I save the extracted PDF text as a file?
Yes. Download .txt saves every extracted page in one plain-text file, with a "--- Page 3 ---" line before each page, ready for Word, Google Docs or a notes app.
