Frequently asked questions
Does minifying JSON change the data?
No. Only whitespace outside of strings is removed, so the data, key order and values stay exactly the same.
How much smaller does minified JSON get?
Typically 10–30% for pretty-printed files, more for deeply indented ones. The tool shows the exact size before and after.
Should I minify JSON before sending it to an API?
It saves bandwidth, but most servers already compress responses with gzip or Brotli, which removes most of the difference. Minify when you store JSON in a size-limited field.
