Bold and italic text formatter for social posts
Instagram, LinkedIn and X don't have a bold button, but Unicode letters can look bold, italic, script or monospace. Type your text, copy the style you like, and keep line breaks where you put them.
How to use the Bold & Italic Text Formatter
- 1Type or paste your text. Every style updates below as you type.
- 2Tap Copy next to the style you want, then paste it into your post or bio.
- 3Use the Line breaks tab to keep blank lines in Instagram captions.
- 4Read the accessibility note: use fancy text for a word or a heading, not whole posts.
Frequently asked questions
How does bold text work on Instagram and LinkedIn?
The tool swaps normal letters for look-alike characters from Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric block, such as 𝗕 for B. They're real characters, so they paste anywhere that accepts text, but they're not true formatting.
Is fancy Unicode text bad for accessibility?
It can be. Many screen readers read each styled letter as a maths symbol or skip it, and search inside the app may not find the words. Use it for a word or a short heading, never for a whole post, your name or key information.
Why do some styles show boxes or question marks?
Older phones and some fonts don't have every Unicode character. Bold and italic sans-serif are the most widely supported; script and double-struck styles are the least.
Can I turn fancy text back into normal text?
Yes. Paste styled text and tap Make plain to turn the look-alike characters back into normal letters and numbers.
