How to use the Text to Speech

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the speech as an MP3?

Not with this tool. It uses your browser's speech feature, which plays audio but gives websites no way to record or save it. To keep a copy, use your device's own screen or audio recorder while it plays.

Why are the voices different on my phone and my computer?

The voices come from your operating system and browser, not from Join Postly. Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Chrome and Edge each ship their own set, and you can add more in your system's speech settings.

Is my text sent to a server when it's read aloud?

Not to Join Postly. On-device voices speak entirely on your device. Voices marked Online (such as Google voices in Chrome or Microsoft natural voices in Edge) send the text to that company's speech service to be spoken.

Why does text to speech skip or stop on long texts?

Some browsers cut off very long speech. This tool reads your text in short sentence-sized pieces to avoid that. If it still stops, press Play again from the paused point.
