Frequently asked questions
What are stop words in a word cloud?
Stop words are very common words like “the”, “and” and “is” that would otherwise be the biggest words in every cloud. The generator removes a built-in English list, and you can add your own words to skip.
How are word sizes decided?
Each word's size grows with how often it appears (or the weight you give it), using a square-root scale by default so a few frequent words don't drown out the rest. Words are placed on a spiral from the centre so none overlap.
Can I use my own list of words and weights?
Yes. Switch to Word list and enter one word per line with an optional weight, like “marketing, 10”. Phrases with spaces stay together as one item.
