Frequently asked questions

How does X count characters in a post?

X weights characters: most Latin letters count as 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters as 2, and every link as 23 however long it is. Standard accounts get 280; X Premium allows longer posts that are cut with "Show more".

What image size works best on X?

1600 × 900 px (16:9) shows in full in the timeline. Taller images are cropped in the feed preview, so keep faces and text near the centre.

Can I preview a whole X thread?

This page previews one post. For a long text, the Thread Maker splits it into numbered posts within 280 each, and you can preview each one here.
