Compress WebP images
Make WebP images even smaller for faster websites. Drop your WebP files, set the quality (75 is a good start) and download lighter versions that keep their transparency. Compression happens in your browser.
How to use the Image Compressor
- 1Drop one or more images (JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF) onto the box, or tap it to choose files.
- 2Choose Quality to set the level yourself, or Target size to enter the file size you need, such as 100 KB.
- 3Pick the output format and, if you like, a maximum width. WebP usually gives the smallest file.
- 4Download each image, or all of them as one ZIP file. Everything happens on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Can a WebP image be compressed further?
Often, yes. Many WebP files are saved at quality 90 or higher; lowering it to 70–80 can cut the size by a third or more with little visible change.
What WebP quality should I use for websites?
Around 75 for photos and 85–90 for images with text or sharp edges. Check the thumbnail and the size shown for each file before you download.
Does WebP compression keep animation?
No. The browser's canvas saves only the first frame, so animated WebP files become still images. Keep animated files as they are.
