Frequently asked questions
How is the total in "Page X of Y" counted?
Y is the number of numbered pages. If you skip the cover, it isn't counted, so a 13-page PDF with a cover reads "Page 1 of 12" to "Page 12 of 12".
Where should page numbers go in a report or thesis?
Bottom centre or bottom right is most common. Universities often set rules, such as numbers bottom centre starting after the title page, so check your style guide.
Can I number only some pages of a PDF?
This tool numbers every page, with the option to skip the first one. To number a section only, split the PDF, number that part and merge the files back together.
