SPF record checker
Check a domain's SPF record: whether there's exactly one, how it ends (-all, ~all, ?all or +all) and how many of the 10 allowed DNS lookups it uses, following every include. Each problem comes with a plain-English fix.
How to use the Email Deliverability Checker
- 1Enter the domain you send email from (or paste an email address).
- 2Read the checks: each one is good, worth improving or a problem to fix, with the exact change to make.
- 3Compare the SPF, DMARC and DKIM records shown with what your email provider asks for.
- 4Make the changes in your DNS settings, wait a few minutes and check again.
Frequently asked questions
Should SPF end with -all or ~all?
~all (soft fail) is the safe default while you set things up; -all (fail) is stricter once every sender is listed. With DMARC in place, both work well. Never use +all.
Can a domain have two SPF records?
No. Two records starting with v=spf1 make SPF fail. Merge them into one record with all the include: entries.
How do I fix too many SPF lookups?
Remove includes for services you no longer use, use a subdomain for bulk mail services, or replace includes with the ip4:/ip6: ranges they stand for (and keep those up to date).
