Frequently asked questions

Does Hindi voice typing support Hinglish?

Partly. Common English words spoken inside Hindi are often written in Devanagari or English as the service hears them. For mostly English speech, choose English (India) instead.

Can I convert a Hindi audio file to text here?

No. Browser speech recognition only listens to the live microphone. You can play the recording aloud near the microphone, but accuracy will be lower than speaking directly.

Why does Hindi speech to text need the internet?

Chrome and Edge recognise Hindi on their makers' online speech services, so a connection is needed while you speak.
