Frequently asked questions
Should TikTok engagement rate use views or followers?
Views, for most uses. TikTok shows videos to many people who don't follow you, so dividing by followers can give rates over 100% on viral videos. Use followers only to compare with Instagram's follower-based rates.
What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?
By views, roughly 4–8% is common and over 10% is strong. Smaller accounts tend to have higher rates. Track your own average and watch which videos beat it.
Do saves and shares matter more than likes on TikTok?
They signal stronger interest: a share or a save means someone wants to see the video again or show it to others. Look at them separately as well as in the total.
