Frequently asked questions

How do I invoice for hours worked?

Put each task or week on its own line, enter the hours in the Hours column (decimals such as 7.5 are fine) and your hourly rate as the price. The amount is hours × rate, rounded to the penny.

How do I show a deposit on a freelance invoice?

Enter it in Amount paid. The invoice then shows the total, the amount already paid and the balance due, so your client knows exactly what's left to pay.

What payment terms should freelancers use?

Many freelancers use 14 days, or 7 for small jobs, and ask for a deposit upfront on larger projects. Put your terms in Notes and set the due date to match.
